Özdere, which is also known as the pearl of Izmir, is placed in the Aegean region of Turkey. It is a fairly small, yet super-cute place. And the sea is so clean that it deserved a blue flag (“mavi bayrak”). The blue flag is known to be only given to clean, well-maintained and safe beaches.
Where there is a beautiful beach, there are many tourists. That’s why the number of people strongly varies between summer and winter: While in winter there are 15.000 residents in Özdere, the number of people rises up to 100.000 in summer (no warranty for the accuracy of the figures).
